About the „Smile is important :)“

The series of works consisting of drawings, paintings and notes within the cycle “Smile is important” came into being as a result of multi-layered intimate research. In addition to intimate research of connections and relations within the layers of a human being this series of works also represent a reaction to new forms of communication. The interpretation of smileys we progressively send to each other on daily basis suddenly and unconsciously awakens questions on feelings, sexuality, violence, human existence and nevertheless the sense of life that occupies a contemporary human being more and more. The issue of irony and the significance of a smile is also a matter questioned. I wish the observers would ask themselves, why we communicate via symbols and less and less via words and do the emoticons diminish and devaluate emotions.

These paintings are self-portraits no matter what the starting basis might be: a clown, an angel, the Christ, Adam or a great emperor. They show individual variations of the stage of spirit and feelings. By passing over the material and deeply establishing within the soul and spirit they more often show motions and impulses of forces rather than the material form. Informel as prior perennial occupation served as proper reliance for new searches. The interaction between complex dynamics of different structural values and static elements has led to the appearance of motion impulses. The occurred transferences established different forms and a breakthrough to the form itself, by adding the organic component to the manipulated elements. This game enabled the composition of new elements in the context of functioning whole, which in the works inflict as peculiar organisms. As such the game has not much in common with the illusional visual perception. The game was given the role of mediator in communication and that indeed was the key moment that determined this latest series of works called “Smile is important”. Instinctively chosen starting motifs open plans on which the manifestation of the visual game of the influence of certain pattern real space and the construction of ultimate “personal non-space” is visible. Throughout the search process it comes to the establishment of balance and constant need to breach it and move towards it over again. The provided paintings initiate the view on personal identity and mild shake up of foundation, as well as potential loss of
balance.
